Hiking Mt. Galiano
There many
approaches to Mt. Galiano.
Here are my picks:
- My all time favourite hike to Mt.
Galiano is from Lord Park. Those of you who have fond memories of the
days when Lord Park was the only approach to Mt. Galiano will be in
for a treat if you haven't seen the new trail Parks and Recreation
have put through Lord Park. The trail winds through a magnificent
cedar forest at the upper end of the park. The only downside to the
Lord Park approach is the limited parking, especially at the bottom
end. There is room about half way up Lord road for several cars to
park and access the trail.
- For the best all round parking go to
the Mount Galiano Trailhead or the Park Place trailhead on Georgeson
Bay road just past the junction
with Morgan Road. It is right before the highways work yard.
- For the most altitude gain and most
energetic workout as well as a nice woodland trail go to the Mt.
Galiano trailhead near the cemetery.
